Expanding the ambiance

So, here we are again. Another week of drawing and painting. And look what we made!

After some sketching and deliberating we came up with a simple and consistent way to build up the characters, including the player’s character. The player’s character had to be as basic as possible. Below you can see the character guide which allows us to construct a gazillion different characters.

For the first playable we made a simple version of the basic player character. Below you can see the concept art for John Doe. We gave him a Robinson Crusoe look. Where is he from? What is his favorite color? What does he do to relax at the end of the day? Does he even like the island life? A small detail, we were out of hands… but then again who needs hands anyway?

Another thing we made this week is one of the buildings on the island. Can you guess what it is for? Look closely at the sign ;)

It is the bakery! The French influences give so much flair to the building. The small windows and the crooked chimney pipes combined with the warm colors makes you want to order a croissant, sit back and enjoy the sun. The bonsai trees outside are a small detail that tell the story about the hobby of the baker. That is the relaxing habit of grooming the trees until late in the evening.

I hope you like the bakery as much as we do. Next week more props and art! Hopefully we can show you some 3D art ;)
